Growth and Times Ahead

The busy season has approached the farm already with spraying, fertilising and shearing all happening. The shearers have their work cut out to shear the fast approaching April and May lambers and have a shiny new shearing trailer to work on.

We have had one sheep lamb early producing triplets which are all doing really well.

The calving has picked up great momentum with only 20 cows left to calve now and we have had some great success with some very strong and healthy calves being born
.
The existing sheep and lambs are coming along very well as you can see in the picture below.

Busy times afoot

The first group of lambing has completed and we have started calving this month. So far we have had 25 calves born and are about a quarter of the way through. The calves that have been born so far are Limousin X's and are absolutely stunning. As we move through this month towards April we begin to think about our April and May lambers which will be nearly 3,000 sheep all waiting to give birth which is a phenomenal amount. Despite the busy times that surround lambing and calving it is one of the most rewarding times of year for us.
