Capturing the moment

This picture taken on an early morning walk in the Purbecks really reflects on the cold, wet and frosty weather we have encountered here in the Purbecks this week. Despite this it has been another busy week on the farm and countdown really begins now with lambing next month, The sheep that are in lamb are beginning to show signs of being ready to give birth soon and we will soon hear lots of baaing all over the farm!

Will the weather affect lambing?

Well it is just less than 3 weeks before we expect to see the first signs of new life on the farm with our lambing season. I have already seen some little lambs in neighbouring fields and cannot believe how quickly it has come around again. The weather has been somewhat 'Jekyll and Hyde' this week with high rain fall and hail storms. I took this photo this morning on a walk out to look at our stunning Highlander sheep and in the distance you can see a large rain cloud forming heading towards the farm. The ewes did not look too impressed!

Beautiful Views Whilst You Walk......For Free!

This is such a stunning place to view the entirity of the Purbecks. I took this picture at Grange Arch which gives an amazing 360 degree view of the Purbecks and in particular a great view of our farm. This walk will take you towards Corfe Castle and is definitely worth doing!

An Evening Stroll...

I took these photos just recently on an evening walk around the Purbecks. There really are some amazing views along the Jurassic coast....

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from Steeple Leaze Farm! It was a positive year for the farm in 2014 for lambing and calving and we hope this will continue forward in 2015. We have already had some fantasic news when 120 of our sheep were scanned (checking if they are in lamb) which gave us a positive result. The lambing season has come around so quickly again and we begin again next month. Sheep are pregnancy tested in a similar way to us humans, it was incredible to see the small fetus' appear on the screen, with the scanning man shouting twins, triplets and singles at us!
